About the Color Swatches

The Alchemist's Color Codex

Each color swatch is a photograph of an actual dye, stain, or pigment sample. I take the photographs on the same natural background (cropped out) and with a color checking tool which is used to calibrate the colors in the photography editing software. I use Datacolor Spyder Checkr color swatch for calibrations & XX software to process the images. You can see a photograph of my photography set-up below where I am using my phone for the photography with a 10" Ring Light with Stand for Desk & Adjustable Overhead Phone Mount with a PVC Backdrop in White background.

I specifically take these steps to calibrate the colors as much as possible, however natural materials vary for a variety of reasons, as do the colors of computer monitors. I make no guarantees that the color & recipes presented will yield the exact same result on your project. This is a guide not a commercial dyeing formula.
